McQ High-Waisted Leather Shorts in Black - Worn before here with Alexander Wang nautical pullover and Jean-Michel Cazabat boots and here with Alice + Olivia crochet tank and Alaia cutout wedges

A Moment In...Silent Blouse in Black - Snagged off ForwardForward.com for $196.35 (Retail: $744)

It was really difficult for us to find some serious shots from this photo shoot, but we managed to do it.  I really don't take myself that seriously, even if it looks like it in some photos.  I am definitely a little goofy and out there in a good way.  When I put this blouse on that reminds me of a cape I just couldn't stop smiling and laughing.  I really felt like a superhero or batwoman in these photos.  The outfit came together quite quickly, as I like my outfits to come together.  I realize sometimes when I look back on old posts that some outfits didn't work for me quite as well as others, but I like taking chances.  My blog is a place for me to have fun.

This top is actually a silk blouse with a cape overlayer in silk that is attached and it has some cord tie in the front.  It is embarrassing for me to admit how long it took me to put this thing on the right way when it first arrived in the mail from Forward by Revolve.  They had some new markdowns and I had been eyeing this designer called ...A Moment In... for ages, but the prices were pretty expensive even for my tastes.  Their pieces are made in Belgium, which made them even more desirable to me.  My boyfriend and I were in Antwerp and Brussels a few years ago and enjoyed the cities very much.  This blouse exceeded all my expectations and it is going to be the perfect layering piece.  Sheer silk is always a favorite of mine.

Since I was feeling such a superhero vibe I paired the cape blouse with some high waisted McQ leather shorts that you have seen me wear before.  I love these shorts and the zippers in the front are actually just for show.  There is a side zipper that is the functional one and it gets stuck sometimes.  It is the tiniest little zipper and I wish it was more like the front zippers so it worked better.  Miraculously the zipper zipped pretty quickly when I was in a hurry this time.  I wondered why these cute leather shorts by McQ ended up on the Outnet and now I can only conclude it was the zipper that drove people crazy.  These Balmain buckle boots were the last part of the outfit.  The shape of them is fabulous and they look like something a superhero might wear.  Again, the buckles are non-functional and these boots just slip on.  They are quite comfortable and even more glamorous up close.  I snagged them off the Outnet during a Balmain pop-up sale.  They are a statement piece and fun to wear.

Kimberly Ovitz Abe Striped Sweater in Black/White - Snagged off Gilt.com for $159 (Retail: $450)

Miu Miu Platform Booties in Black - Worn before here with Alexander Wang leather leggings and Helmut Lang sweater and here with Alexander Wang velvet cropped sweater and Joie shorts

Alice + Olivia Peter Bomber Coat in Khaki - Snagged off Shopbop.com for $257.60 (Retail: $368)

Blue Nile Byzantine Necklace in 18k Yellow Gold - Christmas Gift from Boyfriend

I kept seeing this Kimberly Ovitz sweater everywhere and I debated for a long time over whether or not I should get it.  It was on sale at quite a number of retailers and most of them had the sweater styled in such a way that it did not seem flattering.  Perhaps the model was wearing one size too large?  I don't know.  Anyway, the abe sweater is a classic striped sweater, but the fabric blend and the way it hangs is what is most important.  It is basically silk and cashmere, which are quite possibly the best two fabrics ever.  Also, the back hangs a little lower than the front and it has these cute long belled sleeves.  Kimberly Ovitz is a genius and I love everything she designs.  All her collections are the perfect dream wardrobe.  I can't believe I snagged this super soft sweater for such a great price.  I am glad that Gilt Groupe features Kimberly Ovitz once in a while, but I would buy her stuff at full price and I most certainly have done that before.  The quality is worth it to me.

I paired the sweater with some bright pants, the closest to red I own.  These Rag & Bone suede burgundy leggings were the steal of a century off Forward Forward due to a pricing error on their part.  I paid about $140 for them and they retail for $1200 or something.  I photographed them on the blog back in December and there is a link to that post above with my original story.  I ended the year with a Fashion Snag bang when I snagged these suede leggings.  I love the color, the fit, and the zipper placement.  Rag & Bone has fast become one of my favorite designers.

I kept the look pretty casual by wearing this Alice + Olivia bomber coat.  I wore this on my trip to Vegas whenever it was cold and also on the plane.  I love this jacket.  I thought about it for a while before I purchased it, but I now believe it is a basic piece because I have already used it so much.  It is softer than it looks as well and it fits me perfectly.  I like the khaki against the stripes and burgundy.  It was really windy when we took these photos as you can see, but I tried to work with the wind.  You can see in some shots that I am wearing a gold byzantine necklace.  It was a gift from my boyfriend this past Christmas.  It is lighter than it looks, which is perfect for me and I can pair it with so many pieces.

Prada Haircalf Platform Pumps in Leopard - Worn before here with Rick Owens cardigan and Chanel necklace

Pleasure Doing Business 5 Band Mini Skirt in Fuchsia - Courtesy of TeaLeafClothing.com

Equipment Signature Blouse in Bright White - Worn before on Fashion Snag in many different colors including nature white as seen here with Alice + Olivia butterfly silk shorts

It is amazing how many different colors these Pleasure Doing Business bandage skirts come in.  In these photos I am wearing the hot pink or fuchsia color as seen on Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.  Pink is having a comeback as I have seen people rocking the denim Isabel Marant shorts in pink as well as a knockoff Forever 21 version.  I used to wear a lot of pink in my day.  I am happy to see pink done in a more grown-up way so I can wear it again.  When I wore the navy Pleasure Doing Business skirt I dressed it down a little bit to give it a sporty vibe.  This time I dressed up the hot pink skirt with a silk button down blouse by Equipment.  I swear I have this blouse in every color now except maybe coral and hot pink and I would not mind having those colors as well, but they are nowhere to be found.  I own another white Equipment blouse that is a more subdued white color called nature white, but I think this bright white color looks so good with the bright pink skirt.  These Prada leopard pumps are one of my most talked about pairs of shoes whenever I wear them.  They are definitely a favorite in my collection because they don't hurt my feet and they are beautiful to look at.  They are also leg elongators, my favorite.  I thought with all the hot pink that I might as well get wild and add some leopard in for good measure.  I never like to play it too safe.
