Alisha Levine Cashmere Crewneck Sweater in Black - Snagged off Gilt.com for $69 (Retail: $180)

So I have a very faithful reader named Kate who has been begging me to wear more color.  Well, this one's for you Kate!  I went into my closet and was thinking of you and found this skirt and I really liked the bright yellow.  This skirt had been hanging in my closet for at least a year with the tags still attached and now I don't know why I didn't wear it sooner.  I have a few other pieces by Corey Lynn Calter, but this is my first time wearing something made by her on the blog.  I think the skirt is perfect for spring because I hear that neons and bright colors like turquoise and yellow are going to be all the rage, and well, if they are not all the rage I will be sure to wear the hell out of them here on Fashion Snag.  So thank you Kate! I do listen and read all the comments and I appreciate every one of them.  Without Kate I would not have worn this skirt and smiled the whole time I was doing it because bright colors like yellow make me very happy and put an extra spring in my step.

If you didn't notice, the whole outfit happens to be from Gilt Groupe which I find quite amazing.  I cannot believe this is the first time I have managed to do it in a post, especially since I bought enough stuff from Gilt to be a member of Gilt Noir.  Don't worry, I don't think I get any extra privileges being a member of Gilt Noir so I don't know what the big deal is and I will have to ask Gilt if I am getting anything special anymore.  I still couldn't stray completely from my faithful black tights, shoes, and top.  Sorry Kate, let's face it, black is slimming, classic, and chic.  I do my best though.  I found this very basic cashmere sweater with a crewneck by Alisha Levine.  This also was an older item that still had the tags and hadn't been worn yet.  I really like it now that I wore it because it has extra long sleeves.  Who doesn't love extra long sleeves that you can hide your hands and fingers under, especially in this chilly weather.  Anyway, sometimes I like a good 'ole crewneck better than a v-neck.  I don't like to show all the real estate.

The shoes are the biggest topper in this outfit. I bought them over a year ago during a Gilt final sale.  They were the last pair in my size and I was really getting into shoes at the time.  I saw they were made in Italy so I thought why not try them out.  Well, the poor Be & D quilted ankle boots have been sitting in my closet in their box ever since.  However, when I saw this skirt and the houndstooth pattern on it my mind immediately remembered the quilted ankle boots by Be & D that had never seen the light of day.  I just thought they were meant to be together.  I remember when I first got them I really wasn't that into them, but they did remind me of Chanel due to the quilting.  Now when I pulled them out I was really loving them and the architecture and shape bore a striking resemblance to the Alaia braided suede ankle boots I own.  I looked up some Be & D shoes on Shopbop before finishing this post and I noticed that they are made in Brazil now.

Oliver Peoples Casella Sunglasses in Black - Snagged off Gilt.com and worn many times before

So I bought yet another Navajo cardigan.  I own two other ones by Cynthia Vincent and they are great quality so when I had the chance to snag this season's edition in black and white I couldn't resist.  This one has a different fabric combination than the ones from last season and it sheds a little bit, but somehow when you have a labradoodle and guinea pigs that shed a little shedding is not that big of a deal.  It all blends together with the animal hair, right?  This Corey Lynn Calter shirt is oversized and long, making it the perfect top for any pair of leggings.

Anyway, I rarely wear pants so in an effort to wear everything in my closet I am going to be wearing more pants on the blog.  I started with my most recent leggings purchase from Alexander Wang.  These are the softest leggings I own and definitely the most flattering due to the flared leg and seam detail.  I love them so much I am considering getting them in charcoal as well.  I could definitely retire these to the pajama/loungewear section of my wardrobe once I wear them out.  The Navajo blanket sweater could also end up there.  It is always nice when you know your outfit is cozy enough to sleep in, right?  I finished off the outfit when I found my Fendi studded ankle boots lying on the floor and some feather earrings from Free People on top of my dresser.  I try not to overthink my outfits too much and just go with the flow.
