This Alexander Wang skirt is appropriately named the "peel away" skirt. I have a thing for stretchy knit skirts so it should come as no surprise that I had to snag this one. You literally have to zip yourself into it, but it is much easier than it looks thanks to the material. I actually turned the skirt ever so slightly on my body so that the zipper sits higher in the front. I think it looks better this way. You can really turn the skirt on your body however you like, but I find it more flattering the way I am wearing it versus the model in the link above. The skirt is also the perfect length so you feel comfortable and sexy in it at the same time. Now it can add some bulk to the body thanks to the material, but I don't find that bulk to be terribly unflattering.
To keep the focus on the skirt and since the skirt is so high waisted I wore it with this silk blend crop top from KAIN Label that I snagged a long time ago. I've worn this crop top on the blog a few times before and I also own it in black. I really wish they still made it because it is a really useful piece. The material of the top contrasts well with the skirt because it is thin and sheer. It would not be quite as flattering an as entire outfit if the top was a bulky knit. The fact that you can see through the top adds to its charm.
I could have went with red pumps for a notorious pop of color in this look, but I wanted to stay on the edgy route with navy and black. Navy and black is a favorite color combination of mine. See an old navy and black outfit of mine here. I have talked about these Saint Laurent pumps many times. They are a classic shape and style that I would highly recommend having in your closet. They are also really comfortable.
I am also wearing a cropped leather jacket from J Brand. J Brand makes this jacket every year in black and in some other colors. It is expensive, but not nearly as expensive as the Saint Laurent leather jacket I was wearing here. This jacket has a really thin leather and is lightweight in comparison to the Saint Laurent leather jacket. It works well for this in- between weather we have been experiencing and I find the cut to be flattering and cute. The Saint Laurent leather jacket is a bit thicker and heavier, more for a real motorcycle ride maybe. Either way, I love both jackets for different reasons. I kept everything on top cropped for this look to keep the emphasis on the high waisted knit skirt. I also kept the items on top cropped so I didn't add anymore bulk to the knit skirt or my bottom.
