I call this look bohemian with an edge. The entire ensemble was inspired by this beautiful pine cone necklace. My friends over at Colby June Jewelry on Etsy sent over this necklace and it is perfect for Colorado. Colby June Jewelry makes nature inspired jewelry pieces which are very delicate and beautiful so be sure to check them out. I love the longer length of this necklace as well as the splash of turquoise in the center of the pine cone. The necklace doesn't have any clasp or closure that you have to fuss around with either. You just slip it over your head and you're done. I know this necklace is going to go really well with all my spring and summer outfits. The necklace has the pine cone detailing and turquoise on both sides so if it flips around no one will even notice. I find that to be such a nice touch on a piece of jewelry, almost like getting two pieces for the price of one. Colby June Jewelry is offering Fashion Snag readers a special discount. I made the outfit bohemian on top and edgy on the bottom. It was the perfect way to mix spring and winter trends. I thought the necklace would look best against white and I knew I had this really amazing A.L.C. v-neck tee that I snagged at a deep discount. A v-neck is always great for showing off a necklace, whether the necklace is short or long. It just draws the eyes to that area. I am wearing a size small in the top. You can see me wearing the same top in black here with a fur coat. I am wearing the black in size extra small. Both sizes seemed to fit just fine.
Over the top I am wearing the warmest and softest cardigan. Mixing shades of white like I did with the tee and cardigan can make a look interesting. I love the winter white color of this cardigan and the fact that it has clasps if I want to close it. I never knew what great pieces Bar III had over at Macy's. Right now you can snag this very same cardigan for under $50 here. It really is a steal for such a basic and beautiful piece. I am wearing a size small in the cardigan if you are interested in purchasing it.
On my head is a really great feather hat from Eugenia Kim. I snagged this hat years ago on Gilt Groupe. I really love Eugenia Kim hats and you have seen me wearing various ones in the past. In fact, as I was preparing this post I found the same hat in this beautiful deep crimson color here. I am wearing the hat in brown in this post and it is also a gorgeous color. I've always liked to mix brown and black so the hat was a nice contrast to the black boots and skirt. Sometimes Gilt Groupe has some Eugenia Kim sales so be sure to check them out for steep discounts on designer goods.
I snagged the leather skirt off The Outnet at almost 60% off. I think a black leather skirt is a basic piece to have in your wardrobe. There are so many ways to wear it during all the seasons of the year. It adds some edge to any look. This one has a really nice fit as well. This T by Alexander Wang skirt is still available for purchase. I am wearing a size small.
On my feet are some of my favorite over the knee boots. Over the knee boots are great for those days when you don't want to wear jeans or pants, but you still have to keep warm. Suede over the knee boots will definitely keep you toasty, especially when combined with black opaque tights. These Sergio Rossi over the knee boots are really simple with not too much detailing and that is perhaps what I love most about them. They will stand the test of time because they aren't trendy. They run true to size and you can see me wearing them with a babydoll dress here. My favorite opaque tights are from Express and they are not expensive. I don't think I have ever gotten a run or snag in a pair. They are tough and I highly recommend them.
For crisp days only leather or corduroy pants will do so I wore my burgundy skinny cords from Rag & Bone. Paired with an army shirt tied at the waist and a shearling bi-color jacket, the look was perfect for running errands. A splash of leopard in the form of furry ankle boots added a splash of sophistication, while a cashmere scarf kept things basic. You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to see all my videos.
