Saint Laurent Bucket Bag

Barely Slip Dress3

A slip dress can be the foundation for a lot of fabulous outfits.  This time I toughened up mine with an army jacket.  A gold statement necklace, fringe bag, and lace-up sandals finished off the ensemble.  Shop the entire look below.  You can subscribe to my YouTube channel to see all my videos.

(May. Dress, Ben-Amun Necklace, Current/Elliott Jacket, Oliver Peoples Sunglasses, Alaia Sandals, Saint Laurent Bucket Bag)

We had a busy day of running errands and stopped by Whole Foods at Southglenn for lunch once again.  We made a turkey sandwich on the go that was quite delicious.  I am trying to enjoy the sun and heat for as long as I can because I know it will get cold soon.  With my oufits I have been incorporating a combination of summer and fall themes so that my looks suit the weather and temperature outside.  I always carry a jacket with me even if you don't see it in photos.  It is a must because when you go inside a store or restaurant sometimes the air conditioning is out of control.  I always get cold inside and hot outside.  I am sure this happens to you as well.

The perfect jacket for the weather right now has to be a cotton army jacket in a beige color.  I snagged this one from Current/Elliott that you see in the photos for under $140.  The cotton-twill fabrication make it lightweight if you have to lug it around and easy to throw in your bag.  It would also work pretty well in the rain thanks to the hood.  It is somewhat of a poncho style and it toughens up little silk slip dresses like the one I am wearing.  I adore the beige color because it will go with just about any ensemble you put together, making it very versatile.  As far as I am concerned, Current/Elliott and Rag & Bone consistently make the best army jackets season after season.  The 100% cotton material of the jacket makes it easy to throw in the washing machine as well.  What more could you ask for?

Underneath the Current/Elliott jacket I am wearing a little black slip dress I snagged from a new Australian brand I discovered called May.  So this dress is 100% silk and it has a very thin lining that you can see peeking out underneath.  I think it looks so cute and adds to the hemline.  I snagged this dress for under $160, which I think is a pretty good deal for a dress that could be the foundation for so many great oufits.  You could wear this dress as I did above with an army jacket or you could wear it with a leather jacket as well.  You could also wear the dress alone or throw a cardigan over it.  Basically, this dress is so simple and basic you can wear any of your favorite cardigans or coats over it.  You could also wear it underneath a dress as a slip.

The dress has a v-neck which I like and I decided to play that up by wearing a bohemian style gold necklace.  I had been looking for a long necklace like this one from Ben-Amun for ages.  You can see how I wore the necklace last time in a completely different way here.  What I like about this necklace is that it is a statement piece so you really just put this necklace on and you are finished.  You don't have to worry about throwing on any other jewelry.  It does all the work for you and who doesn't want that?

On my feet are some Alaia sandals I snagged on sale quite some time ago (there are still some left) and have been dying to show you.  They are just the right sandals for this transitional weather we have been having.  It is too hot to wear boots, but these shoes offer the best of both worlds thanks to the open toe and coloring.  The black and brown color and almost-covered foot scream fall, but the open toe and lace-up detailing say summer.  Best of all, they are so comfortable for the heel height.  I may have said this before, but if you are looking for a comfortable pair of high heels look no further than Alaia shoes.  Somehow, no matter how high he makes his shoes, they are always comfortable and walkable.  I don't know how he does it.  Usually to make a high heel more comfortable you need a huge platform.  That is not the case here.  His shoes are like works of art or little buildings.  I think of them like architecture.  I don't know how he puts so much beauty into one shoe.  Can you tell I love shoes?

I am also wearing my beloved Oliver Peoples sunglasses you have seen a million times before.  If I ever lost these I would probably cry because I think they are the only sunglasses that make me feel cool no matter what I am wearing.  I feel like a spy when I am wearing them.  Sunglasses are the best accessory of all and don't be afraid to invest in a good pair that makes you feel like a million bucks.  You will be doing your eyes a favor as well so it is a win-win situation.

xoxo
